Our Objectives
The general objective is to design novel structural materials with optimized properties for industrial applications and to develop advanced processing technology, as well as the chemical, microstructural, and mechanical characterization.
The GOALS of the researches are divided into three main areas:
[1] Materials with ultra high-strength and specific properties
: Aimed to develop novel chemical and microstructural configurations,
such as lattice distortion, heterogeneous microstructure by partial recrystallization, precipitation,
dislocation-mediated plasticity, twinning- and transformation-induced plasticity.
[2] Materials for extreme working conditions
: Aimed to improve the behaviors under very aggressive environments,
such as hydrogen embrittlement, high temperature, cryogenic temperature, dynamic deformation,
corrosion, wear and frictional, and liquid metal embrittlement.
[3] Materials fabricated by advanced processing techniques
: Aimed to develop alloys for advanced processing and also to optimize processing conditions
such as metal additive manufacturing, severe plastic deformation, and thin-film coatings.
